Join Us in Shaping the Future
Partner with Farmington School District to inspire, empower, and support the next generation of leaders and learners.
Valley View Community School offers a physical education program that provides planned activities designed to increase students' coordination, manipulative skills, and motor skill development. Students enjoy a variety of rhythmic activities, planned instruction, and games designed to develop the students' abilities. Students should progress from individual-centered play to cooperative-competitive play. Instruction emphasizes physical fitness and the importance of an active lifestyle. For safety reasons, all students must wear sneakers during physical education.
All students in grades K-3 participate in the once a week program unless excused for a physical condition, illness, or absence. A one-day excuse from physical education class will be issued on receipt of a note written and properly signed by the parent/guardian.
Students who have been excused from physical education for an extended period of time (medical disability) must present a physician’s statement that the student is physically able to return to gym class.

TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
All students in grades K-3 participate in weekly technology education sessions. During these classes students will learn beginning terminology, keyboarding skills and use word processing programs. Older students may also begin learning about database, spreadsheet and presentation programs, ethical internet use and internet safety. Students may also visit web-sites relevant to themes being studied by the class, and/or work on publishing student written material. The goal of technology is for students to gain an understanding that technology tools are available to assist in deepening their knowledge of core concepts and to explore new topics rather than just a tool that exists as a separate entity.
Music classes are offered to all children in grades PreK-3 on a weekly basis and at times, integrated with the classroom curriculum. Music Shows are typically held in December and May. Official dates will be posted in the newsletter.
